Digital Accessibility
As we adapt to the changing economy, broadband connectivity and access are more critical to our lives and livelihoods than ever before. Unfortunately, according to the Federal Communications Commission more than 21.3 million Americans, 14 million of whom live in rural communities, do not have access to broadband connections and risk falling further behind.
A February 2020 study by BroadbandNow Research found that the actual number of people lacking access to broadband in the U.S. is closer to 42 million. Closing digital divide, intensified by COVID-19, through prioritizing connecting rural communities and deploying broadband along with services including tele-health, educational resources, and digital skilling is therefore imperative.
